While no one is immune from catching Covid-19, mounting evidence seems to suggest that blood type could play a role in the risk of infection and how severe the symptoms are.
Two studies published today in Blood Advances suggest people with blood type O are less likely to get Covid-19 and also less likely to have severe outcomes, like being put on a ventilator, if they do get sick.
In one of the studies published, researchers compared Danish health registry data from more than 473,000 individuals tests for Covid-19 to data from a control group of more than 2.2 million people from the general population.
