People who feel more threatened by Covid-19 are most likely to stockpile toilet paper during the pandemic, according to a new study published today in the journal PLOS ONE.
“Subjective threat of COVID-19 seems to be an important trigger for toilet paper stockpiling,” wrote the study authors.
In the second week of March, toilet paper sales jumped 700% and sales rose almost 71% in comparison to previous years in the nine weeks through May 2, according to Nielsen.
