One In Four People Worldwide Won’t Get The Covid-19 Vaccine Until 2022

While many countries have started to roll out the first Covid-19 vaccinations, nearly a quarter of the world's population may not have access to a Covid-19 vaccine before 2022, according to a new study.

The study, published by The BMJ, looked at pre-orders for the coronavirus vaccine around the world before their regulatory approval. By November 15, 2020, several countries had reserved a total of 7.48 billion doses from 13 manufacturers out of 48 Covid-19 vaccine candidates in clinical trials.

But, according to the study, over half (51%) of the doses reserved will go to high-income countries, despite the fact those countries only represent 14% of the world’s population.
